Our Work
Scroll below to learn more about BrainJump Thailand's accomplishments, project timeline, and recent updates.
Phase 1
Research
Brain Jump Thailand started as small project on memory loss in the elderly, but rapidly expanded in scale. The ultimate goal was to develop an app that would help assist Alzheimer's patients' daily lives. During June 2021, we intensively researched information to have fundamental knowledge on the disease. Afterwards, we consulted multiple doctors in Thailand including Dr. Ketchai Suavansri of Bumrungrad International Hospital and Dr. Sarinporn Tipudom of Bangkok Hospital. We were developing an app that was targeting a specific group of users and thus required meticulous design. It was imperative to thoroughly understand the disease and the current needs in Thailand.
Phase 2
App Protyping
After in-depth research and discussion with doctors, we understood what our potential app users would need. We finalized the functions our app would offer, and started prototyping an app that would be simple enough for the elderly to use. During different stages of prototyping our app, we continued consulting with doctors for suggestions and feedback. We finally completed our app prototype in both English and Thai at the end of the summer of 2021.
Phase 3
App Development and Launch
In December 2021, we partnered with a third-party app developer to develop the Brain Jump App. After several months of meetings, changes, and testing, we launched the app on the App Store and Google Play. Currently, we are in the process of contacting different organizations within Thailand and the United States to test our app with Alzheimer's patients.
Phase 4
Feedback with the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association of Thailand
In March 2023, we hosted an online workshop with The Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association of Thailand and received feedback from professors, doctors, nurses, and dementia patient caregivers. Brain Jump Thailand is currently implementing this feedback and making further changes to the app, including refining our home page and certain functions.
Phase 5
Further App Development
After getting feedback from various professors, doctors, nurses, and dementia patient caregivers, we modified our app to best accommodate the user. Our modifications include removing our How-To function and instead promoting "Thoughts" and "Daily Tasks" (formerly called Today's Tasks) to be one of the main functions of the app. In the "Daily Tasks" function, users can now create a schedule for each day with customized tasks or suggested tasks from the app. Additionally, the "record your own recipe" portion of the How-To function was moved into the "Reminders" function (formerly called Reminders and Alarms).
